May Fayre 2007

This year's May Fayre once again drew large crowds despite the early downpours and wind!. The Parish Plan working group had a stand once again and photos of this will follow very shortly.

Quick Wins

May 2007 - Traffic Monitoring
We have just deployed a traffic monitoring project along the South End Road as this was one of the primary concerns from the analysis of the questionnaire. This involves monitoring the speed and frequency along the South End road for a period of 7 days by 24 hours to give us an accurate analysis. More roads will be monitored in the very near future.

May 2007 - Village Rename
The village of (Southend Bradfield, Southend, Bradfield Southend) has been renamed by democratic process to Bradfield Southend. Signs will change accordingly in time to reflect the name Bradfield Southend and will therefore be consistent. Please see link below on "What's in a name?".

May 2007 - Youth Club
There is keen interest to restart the Bradfield Youth Club and this is being supported and investigated with a view to doing so as soon as possible.

May 2007 - Traffic Monitoring
Year 9s in Bradfield College undertook a study to monitor traffic and see how they could suggest impovements to pedestrian safety around the college in particular during the darker Winter months. The boys involved then made a presentation to some members of the Bradfield Parish Plan working party. The working party members were very impressed with the maturity shown in these presentations and some of the suggestions made were very sensible. Pre Launch Leaflet

May 2007 We have published a Pre-Launch leaflet detailing the core topics for inclusion in the completed Parish Plan document. Data Analysis is being compiled at present and will be ready before the public meeting on June 23rd. We presented some top line anaylses for the Bradfield May Fayre.

Analysis Stage

March 2007 ALL questionnaires were collected by our fantastic volunteers who gave up their time to ensure we covered off everybody, or at least as many as they could. Analysis should be ready for end of April 2007. We hope to present some analysis for May Day.

What's in a Name?

January 2007. Finally we have the analysis in from the questionnaires for the village name of Southend within Bradfield. Options were Bradfield, Bradfield Southend, Southend Bradfield, or the current Southend. Bradfield Southend was chosen by a small margin over Southend Bradfield. Neither Bradfield nor Southend polled many votes.
